SHENANDOAH

Symphonic Picture

   ( dur : 5" )

SHENANDOAH was created at the request of well-known "Pops" conductor Michael Krajewski and was premiered in late Summer, 2004 by the Houston Symphony Orchestra.  The work is a sweeping, lyric setting of the famous folksong melody with a panoramic, "Americana" feel; it would make a worthy addition to any orchestral Pops program -- particularly those with the inclusion of other patriotic or American selections.  The orchestration is WWs in "3s" with standard brass and strings and there are extended solos for horn, flute and trumpet.  Both harp and celesta are required.  The piece can be played effectively in an outdoor setting.

This work is available for rental as of September, 2004.
